Affirmations for Work can Shift your Energy
Affirmations for Work Monday’s can often be a bit overwhelming when we think of all…
In this post, I will share a list of my Top 10 Personal Development Books. I also like to call them my Top 10 Consciousness Expanding Books because that’s the impact they have had on my life and I hope they will for you as well.
Who doesn’t know of this classic work which was originally published in 1937? It’s one of the first books I read that turned on the light bulb of possibility. In this book, Napoleon Hill teaches that the one thing we have control over is our thoughts and through controlling our mind we can control our destiny.
Self Matters is the first book “Dr. Phil” wrote and had published. The major eye-opener in this book is the concept of taking personal responsibility for the results in our lives. Dr. Phil teaches from a very practical, no-nonsense, “in your face” sort of way which rubs some people the wrong way. However, I believe that cutting through the fluff and excuses is what’s often required to achieve breakthroughs.
You² is a tiny little booklet (only 35 pages) that first awakened me to the possibility of achieving quantum leap results without exerting herculean efforts. Two of the chapters that struck a chord with me were the chapters “Suspend Disbelief” and “Make your Move Before You’re Ready.” How often do we get into analysis-paralysis and don’t take action on our dreams because deep down inside we don’t think they are possible?
This was the first book that introduced me to some of the science behind creating the lives we desire. It is filled with practical exercises dealing with visualization and fully seeing and feeling our vision. Mind Power is a book you can re-read often.
This is the book that put Eckhart Tolle on the map – even before Oprah introduced him to the world with his subsequent book A New Earth. The Power of Now deals less with the science and more with the metaphysical side of things. The mind blowing concept in this book is the power of being fully present in the current moment.
You may have heard of Dr. Joe Dispenza via his participation in the movie “What the Bleep.” His section on “creating your day” was one of the most popular parts of the movie. In his follow-up book to the movie – Evolve your Brain, Dr. Dispenza delves into the neuroscience supporting how the brain functions as it works to initiate and sustain change. I’ve also attended a workshop given by Dr. Dispenza that was even more fascinating.
Mindful Loving is a book that was used in a class I attended a few years ago on creating loving relationships. Once you read it, I’m sure you will agree with me that this book’s topics and strategies have universal practicality. The big take-away from Mindful Loving is that whether we verbalize them or not, our thoughts are being picked-up and acted upon by others – enough said!
The Science of Getting Rich is another classic that was written in the early 1900’s (1910 to be exact). It was one of the foundational books that inspired the hit movie “The Secret.” In this book, Wallace Wattles outlines a specific step-by-step, “scientific” plan for getting rich. The Science of Getting Rich is full of little gems, but one that remains with me is the importance of combining inspired action with thought.
I have re-read this book so many times that I’ve run out of colors to use to highlight significant text. The subject matter in this book is a bit advanced in that it provides training on how to sense and respond to the energy of people and your surroundings. If this is your first introduction to energy, quantum physics, mediation and related topics you may not get the most from the book initially. But as your study and awareness deepens, you will undoubtedly find this book to be extremely powerful and eye-opening.
This is a very inspiring book that I regularly pick up and flip to a random section when I need a reminder of how powerful and creative I am. How to Change Your Life introduces spirituality into the mix and integrates these topics with the science. The back of the book provides several targeted affirmations that can be used to address specific issues we face in our daily lives.
So that’s the list. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the summary of my top 10 Personal Development Books as much as I have enjoyed recalling my insights. You also may have a better understanding now of why I also like to call this a list of my Top 10 Consciousness Expanding Books.
